Probe is a 1988 American television pilot and subsequent TV series, created by television mystery writer William Link and noted science fiction author Isaac Asimov. It aired on ABC. Michael B. Wagner, a veteran television writer, wrote the two-hour pilot, and became Executive Producer for the series. The pilot and series starred Parker Stevenson as Austin James, a misanthropic genius who solved high tech crimes, and Ashley Crow as James' new secretary Mickey Castle.The show began as a mid-season replacement and was canceled after a two-month run of the pilot and six episodes. Entire episodes have made their way on the internet through video-sharing sites such as YouTube.Some episodes of the show revolved around Serendip, a company founded by Austin that he has no interest in running. Mickey, his Serendip-appointed secretary, plays Watson to Austin's Holmes.

Austin James, an eccentric scientific prodigy, and his somewhat scatterbrained secretary, Michelle Castle, investigate a variety of murders, all with a scientific basis, whether it be a locked-room mystery in a nuclear reactor, or homicides committed with holograms.

The widower Danyal worries about his adult daughter Jila, even though the doctor has long been on her own feet. When the man in his mid-fifties can't reach her by phone, he rushes from Kitzingen in Franconia to Berlin with two friends. The career lawyer Markus and the entertainer Tobi, also loving fathers with adult daughters in the capital, would like to combine the friendship service with the opportunity to visit their offspring. However, as soon as they arrive, the three realize that they know very little about the lives of the young women. Jila doesn't want to talk to Danyal because she believes he is responsible for the failure of several relationships, the unsuccessful actress Tilda is burdened by her father's excessive career expectations and Hanna confronts the complacent judge Markus about a secret marriage for legally questionable reasons. The three fathers' short trip develops a dynamic of its own that also pushes the daughters to their limits.

Svea Classen and Peter Pirnegger are happily married in Stralsund. They are married in a civil ceremony, and now that Svea is pregnant, they plan to have a church wedding in Peter's hometown, the Alpine village of St. Josef. Peter's parents, Inge and Joseph Pirnegger, the hotelier and mayor of St. Josef, live there. Svea can't imagine a church wedding in the Austrian mountains. After some hesitation, however, she agrees to one anyway. Joseph plans to keep them in the village long-term. Peter receives an offer to become chief veterinarian in the national park planned there—a dream come true for Peter.
